This fabulous Suffragette Pendant is Circa 1900, set in 9ct Yellow Gold
and set with beautiful Amethysts, Peridots and Pearls.
All original Victorian
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine. Their jewellery was
chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents
that they were mannish or shrieking!
Green is for give, white is for women and violet is for votes.
Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its
stunning beauty and legendary powers to stimulate,
and soothe, the mind and emotions.
The peridot is a stone of lightness and beauty and was believed to
be a stone of springtime by ancients who considered it
a gift from Mother Nature.
Pearls have a wonderful lustre with a rich creamy tone, they are
lovely lustrous and natural. A pearl is composed of calcium carbonate
in minute crystalline form, which has been deposited
in concentric layers.
